I have often wondered why in the world there wasn’t a Star Wars character meal. I get asked all the time about one. That makes this announcement all the sweeter! There’s going to be not one but two character meals this spring at Walt Disney World during Star Wars weekends! I predict these get booked within hours of opening up today. For those of you that know me well, you know I don’t do Star Wars Weekends personally because I am just not that into Star Wars. My sons and husband are. I love them for my clients and really think that you can’t beat them if you are really into it. This is a game changer for me though. YES I want to meet the Star Wars characters at a character meal! And you should too!

Here’s the details:
Star Wars Galactic Dine-in Breakfast- 8am until noon, weekends only at you guessed it, the Sci Fi Dine In Theatre! You can expect to meet some or all of the following characters: Boba Fett, Darth Vader, Greedo, Jawa, and Stormtroopers. I can hear some of you passing out from excitement as you read this. Star Wars trailers and movie clips will be shown while you dine. It is $47.99 for adults and $29.99 for children(3-9).
What better way to start your day at Disney than with this guy??
And my personal must do:

Jedi Mickey’s Star Wars Dine Dinner, 4:15 pm until 8-9:30pm(ending time will vary based on park hours) at Hollywood & Vine. You will meet Jedi Mickey, Leia Minnie, Darth Goofy, Stormtrooper Donald, and Ewok Chip & Dale. It is $56.99 for adults and $32.99 for children. If you want to also include Fantasmic! seating in your price it is $59.99 for adults and $36.99 for children.  For that price of course you want to add Fantasmic! to your package.
*as an update to the times. Every single one I was able to get was either 4:30 or 5PM. Nothing later showed up but there was not a clear answer as to if they were just not available or if that was it. Fantasmic packages for sure would have to be that early but I wasn’t getting availability for non Fantasmic reservations later.

The Disney Dining plans will be accepted for both meals and they are going to be two table service credits per meal.
I will be on the phones first thing booking these for our existing clients. I hope to have great news for everyone later today. If you are ready to make your Star Wars dreams come true, contact us today!

Pizza Planet Review

Today I am taking you to Pizza Planet for lunch! Try to go outside of the peak dining times if possible as it can get crowded. As expected, they serve pizza here. In all reality, the food is not the reason you go to Pizza Planet. The kids are going to love the pizza. For those of you that are pizza snobs-you are not going to think it’s anything special. It is on par with any pizza delivery place out there.

Here’s a snapshot of the menu:

You go for the theme. If your kids(or even you grownups) are die hard Toy Story fans, you have to dine here. It is like stepping into Pizza Planet from the movie. You will see your favorite Toy Story characters decorating the walls in bright colors. First things first, after you order, head upstairs to eat. That’s the only way your kids are actually going to eat anything. You can also grab a table outside but for most days, inside upstairs will be a nice cool spot. Then turn them loose in the arcade. There are plenty of games to choose from for everyone in the family. When you go here, allow time in your schedule to play or you are going to have some disappointed kiddos and daddies. There are change machines and even an ATM so no chance you can claim you don’t have money to do the games.
It is loud in here and your ears will probably be buzzing with all of the arcade noises for a bit after you leave. But there’s just something special about seeing your kiddo light up because they had lunch at PIZZA PLANET!! And that is the reason I recommend Pizza Planet to my clients.

Sci-Fi Dine In Review

Today I am taking you to Hollywood Studios for one of my favorite table service restaurants. It is one table service credit on the dining plans. Sci-Fi Dine In is located at Hollywood Studios. It is always night time there and you are dining under the stars. You might not notice that part as your eyes will be glued to a huge movie screen playing all kinds of clips.

This is the theatre lit up. You will walk in and it will be dark though.

You are seated in a table that looks like a convertible. I’m sure if my husband was writing this he would tell you the exact make and model of your convertible but I will just show you a picture. They are limited to how many you can seat in one so your party will be split up if you are a large group. They are fairly close to each other and honestly you aren’t doing a lot of talking at this meal. The best aspect of this location (other than the food of course) is it is a place you can go and literally just zone out for a moment. It’s cool inside. For some reason Hollywood Studios always feels hot to me so this is ideal to step inside and cool off. The kids are entertained and you will be too by the different clips playing.  And as you can see from the pictures the convertibles do accommodate highchairs too! They have trays on them for the little ones to eat on. This was the quietest meal in terms of my children asking for things or having to get up, etc. It was quite perfect after a day of hitting every ride and character we could find and this was just lunch time. I thought the wait staff moving about would be distracting but you hardly notice them.

Look at those happy kids! The littlest one is still glued to the movie screen.
They are known for their All American Picnic Burger. It is enormous!  Hamburger patty plus a hot dog plus sauerkraut! I was not brave enough to try it but my husband did. Somehow he managed to finish it.  It tasted exactly like it sounds-heart attack waiting to happen but he loved it. It is not recommended to eat this and then go get on the thrill rides though!
I went for a slightly lighter fare or at least as light as the menu gets here with the Salmon BLT. The portion size on this was huge as well. I am not a big Aioli fan but it was really good on the sandwich. I ordered it in hopes of choosing something slightly healthy. While it did have salmon on it, I wouldn’t say this was healthy at all given the size of the bun but it tasted good! It was the best sandwich I tried at Walt Disney World.
Instead of the fries pictured, I opted for the cucumber salad. I could have just ordered a large bowl of this salad and been content! The kids loved it too but I do have slightly unusual kids in that regard and they love all things vinegar. It had a little bit of sweetness to it and just the right amount of onions. It also makes you feel better about yourself after having indulged in the huge entrees!
Kids will be pleased as there is all of their favorites on the menu, mac and cheese, hot dog, etc..  And the adults can enjoy some fun drinks and a decent beer menu. We were way too full to even consider dessert but I have been told the House Made Candy Bar is the Way to go. If I had seen this picture beforehand we would have made room for this and certainly will next time!
My recommendation is if you go for lunch time, you could easily share an entrée as they were so huge. They are also so good you will eat the whole thing whether you intend to or not. I still prefer it for lunch though because it is the perfect place for some AC and some zone out time. Here is a link to the complete menu if you want to check it out. It is not a large menu but everything they do, they do well.
Overall, this is on my list of top picks for clients to dine at. Great menu, unique atmosphere, and relaxing!

Hi Mamas! Star Wars Weekends at Walt Disney World are a ton of fun! You may not realize it if you haven’t been before but people dress up for this event. I would say as much as Halloween at Disney! The first time I went to Star Wars Weekend I had no idea what to expect(this was many years ago). The kids in costumes were the cutest. Now if you are crafty, I am sure you have no problem coming up with a costume idea. But the rest of us mamas need help. Etsy is my friend when it comes to craftiness that I am not gifted with!

Please note that I have personally not purchased from the following Etsy shops, these are just items I find to be pretty cute for your little Jedis!

This is perfect if you want something but not necessarily a full blown costume! Plus remember it is HOT in May and June in Orlando. This cape will work with any shorts and tshirt combo to keep your little Yodas cool too.

For those of you that want to go all in-these costumes are perfect!
And for those of you that are crafty but need a pattern-check out this vintage pattern set you can buy and sew your own!
And a slight variation to the above options is to go themed but not actually in a costume. For that I love OMG Adorable! This is someone I know and love dearly. I purchase from OMG quite a bit and her work is OMG ADORABLE!
This is her facebook shop. Her shop will reopen this week. My kids have all kinds of her shirts. The quality is outstanding and the kids love them. Check out her albums and you are sure to find something and if you don’t see what you want, just message her and she will find it for you. Tell her Chick Melissa sent you over!
Dressing up your Jedi Learners in their Padawan gear has never been easier! There’s something for everyone out there. Have fun with it! There will be some pretty elaborate people out there to check out and it’s fun to get dressed up!

Hi Mamas,  Today I am taking you on a picture tour of my favorite treat(s) in each park. Come along and let your mouth start to drool!

First stop-Animal Kingdom. Mickey Ice Cream Bars can be found just about everywhere at Walt Disney World. But my favorite place to have one is at Animal Kingdom Park.

This was my oldest son’s very first Mickey Mouse Bar that we let him have all on his own. His little cheeks are full because he couldn’t believe it was ALL his! Take note of those pudgy fingers gripping the ice cream!
Next Stop is Hollywood Studios and there’s just something about that place that makes me want popcorn. I am sure it is all the movie paraphernalia. I especially love the popcorn stands here.

At Epcot I couldn’t choose just one, so you get a bonus. Lefse can be found in Norway. It is a cinnamon sugar potato cake that resembles a tortilla rolled up. They don’t charge nearly enough! I tried to make these one time at home.
And how can you pass up this caramel deliciousness in Germany? I will take one of each please.

My most recent favorite treat can also be found multiple places but I like having one at Magic Kingdom after seeing Wishes-a Mickey Mouse cake pop! I prefer the chocolate covered ones and not the sprinkles or sugar coated ones. The dots at the bottom of the stick let you know what flavor. My personal fave is Red Velvet!
I promise this blog post had zero calories! And when you get to taste them at Disney, you will be walking so much it won’t matter. Enjoy!
What’s your favorite treat at Walt Disney World? Click to share with me on my facebook page.
